All Inclusive in Playa Mujeres, MX

We checked in at Excellence Playa Mujeres, a brand-new resort only a month old as of April 2025, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but we’ve stayed at an Excellence property in Jamaica before, so we had high hopes. We decided to upgrade to the Excellence Club upon arrival (often cheaper when done onsite), which gave us access to exclusive lounges, bars, and restaurants. After check-in, we relaxed in the Excellence Club Lounge, had snacks, and grabbed cocktails at the Lobby Bar while we waited for our room.

Once settled into our beach-view room with an in-room hot tub, we lounged in robes and slippers before heading to dinner at Oregano, the on-site Italian Restaurant, complete with a Mexican wine pairing experience; a romantic, interactive meal with perfect ambiance. The night ended with a spontaneous Silent Disco where we danced under the stars and met other travelers.

Another perfect day of sunshine. I had breakfast at one of the Excellence Club restaurants overlooking the pool while my husband played golf nearby. We reunited at the beachfront restaurant bar for lunch and drinks before spending the afternoon relaxing on the beach.

That evening, we dined at the Milo, Greek Restaurant on-site. The small plates were outstanding, and the modern Mediterranean vibe made it one of our favorite dinners of the trip. We finished the night with ice cream and enjoyed the live Mariachi performance in the square from our balcony.

We spent the day on an excursion to Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of Playa Mujeres. The catamaran ride there featured unlimited drinks, stunning views, and a snorkeling stop where my husband dove right in. Once we docked, we rented ATVs to explore the island, shopped for local art, and found a hand-painted ceramic mask that we brought home as a keepsake. The water was impossibly clear and blue, truly paradise.

Back at the resort, we had dinner at Raices, the authentic Mexican gastronomy restaurant, which was beautifully detailed and full of rich flavors, though we just missed the live mariachi show that performs some nights.

We were up early again for another round of golf, this time, I joined! The course winds through a few nearby resorts and one whole is even overlooking the ocean, offering a glimpse of more of Playa Mujeres’ beautiful scenery. The weather couldn’t have been better (not a drop of rain all week). After an afternoon nap, we spent the evening at the Sports Bar, catching a game, chatting with honeymooners, and relaxing over a few cold drinks.

On our final day, we took things slow. We spent the morning lounging by the X-Lounge, the Excellence Club Infinity Pool, playing poolside trivia, and sipping tropical drinks. Later, we got ready for the experience I was most excited about: Whisper, the Speakeasy Experience, which we had pre-booked on Day 1. It was hands-down one of the most creative, immersive dining experiences we’ve ever had. Without spoiling too much, expect surprises, incredible cocktails, and an evening you’ll never forget.
