Croatia Including Krk & Plitvice Lakes
Beautiful place for a couples' road trip! We decided to plan our own trip rather than do the usual Dubrovnik and coastal route, and had a great time. We were even lucky enough to have a friend in the area who was able to show us around some local spots. https://couplestravelstories.ca/7-day-itinerary-croatia/

Highlights
The seaside towns are so pretty, they're absolutely one of the main lasting memories
Plitvice Lakes has been on our bucket list for a while now, and it was incredible to see in person
Day 1
After landing in Zagreb and seeing a few sights like Tkalčićeva Street, we took the bus to Rijeka, the main city near the coast that's very well connected to the capital. If you're planning a coastal trip from Zagreb, you'll certainly start in Rijeka. Don't miss the Korzo Walking Street or Trsat Castle at night! The castle views at sunset are absolutely stunning.
Day 2
Istrian Peninsula - the beautiful peninsula that borders Italy. Several stunning harbour cities to choose from, plus a stop at one of the few surviving Roman amphitheaters.
Days 3 to 4
Krk Island - (tied as) the largest Croatian island, with plenty more picturesque towns and excellent beaches.
Day 5
Selce - another nice relaxing beach town. We related at cafes in a beautiful village, and spent a slow day along the beach.
Day 6
Plitvice Lakes National Park - a must-visit, bucket list spot for many travelers. Spend the day chasing waterfalls in one of the most beautiful national parks in the world.
Day 7
Pag Island - festivals and partying on the water. Zrce Festival Beach hosts beach parties and festivals all summer, and is sure to be a highlight of your trip. If you want something more relaxing, Beach Ručica is for you.
Anything you would add or do differently?

Take it slower! Actually, to be honest, we did. We were lucky to be able to spend a few weeks here, but we condensed the highlights into a 1-week trip. This plan would be a little busy for a week, so adding a few days would be ideal. Also we'd recommend cutting Pag Island from the trip if there's no festival you're hoping to see.
