Elopement in Yosemite National Park
We chose this for the beautiful mountains and scenery as well as generally mild weather in March. The trip was technically 5 days but 2 of those were nearly exclusively travel days across the country.
Trip Recap
- Day 1: Explored Yosemite Valley today, soaking in sights before our photographer tomorrow.
- Day 2: We enjoyed exploring and hiking around the beautiful lodges in the evening.
- Day 3: Visited Mariposa Grove's giant sequoias and enjoyed a charming bed & breakfast!
Highlights
Highly recommend downloading the All Trails app and offline Google Maps since you won’t have service. All Trails will show you how easy/difficult a hike is along with routes and what’s near you.
Make sure to get groceries at Oakhurst because there’s little to no grocery stores nearby!
Day 1
We explored Yosemite Valley where we could see everything and enjoy it before meeting our photographer the next day where there would be less time.
Day 2
We visited many of the same sites with our photographer. Later in the evening, we did some light exploring and hiking around the property and lodges.
Day 3
We went to Mariposa Grove with the giant sequoias and stayed at the cutest little bed & breakfast.

We didn't have a strong itinerary going in but rather just "go-with-the-flow" which was very unlike us compared to previous trips. It worked for this one as we wanted to relax and enjoy ourselves instead of work to get every single location in. If it was just a normal trip and not an elopement/honeymoon type of trip, we definitely would've researched more locations and came up with a plan!
We booked this not knowing if it would be snowing or full spring as it can vary from year to year. We hit it lucky with not needing chains on tires as there was only snow on the sides of the road. Several locations we would've loved to visit were closed off still with the snow so make sure to research what locations you want and when they are open if you're planning on higher elevation areas.
