Walking around the forest area in Bainbridge was honestly so nice. It was relaxing and I hadn't been in a forest for a really long time, so it was really great easy way to be safely in nature without driving

The art museum had a really nice mix of exhibits and they were really interesting.

Day 1

We arrived in Seattle early in the morning, and took the monorail directly from the airport to downtown. Breakfast was our first priority, and we were in the mood for something new, so we stopped by a biscuits and gravy, southern inspired, place called Biscuit Bitch. They have a window counter you order from, and while we waited I stopped in at the coffee place across the street. Any independent/local coffee shop in Seattle is pretty good, in my opinion. The food was tasty, with a good dash of spice, but a bit heavy overall.

Next we walked down to Pike's Place Market, which is a must do if it's your first time in Seattle, but my partner and I have both been to Seattle multiple times, so we walked through and down to the waterfront.

We decided to take the ferry over to Bainbridge Island. Bainbridge is a cute little town directly across from the Seattle waterfront, about 30 minutes away on the ferry.

We had great weather and gorgeous views of the Puget Sound, Seattle, and the mountains. I always love taking the ferry. Once we arrived on Bainbridge, we stopped at the visitor's center and got a map. It's a 5/10 minute walk to the main street area with 2 routes available. We chose to go through the little forest and enjoy PNW forest vibes for a little bit, before exploring the main street.

We started at the Art Museum, which was free to enter and had 4 diverse exhibits. I especially liked the Dias de Los Meurtos exhibit that had a variety of student work from the community.

From there we continued to explore all of the little shops along main street. We tried fudge from the chocolatiers, got locally designed tarot cards from the bookshop, and overall had a great time walking around town in the sunshine.

We got the ferry back and watched the sunset on the water (Absolutely gorgeous). We got picked up by some friends and stopped for dinner at the Seattle classic, Ivars. where we had their clam chowder bread bowl.

Then it was back to the airport for our next flight!

Anything you would add or do differently?

  • Tried to sleep on the plane more- this was a daytrip while on a layover but we were pretty tired from our red eye flight so it was difficult to keep going all day.

  • I would have checked if Sea-Tac airport has any luggage lockers- carrying around my tote with my laptop and other things was doable, but inconvenient.
