I have always heard great things about solo traveling in Berlin. I wanted to put myself out of my comfort zone and explore a bigger city solo, and even enjoy the nightlife!

Day 1

Day 1 consisted of wandering some famous spots in Berlin & preparing for a night of festivities.. solo!!

I landed in the Morning and then made my way to my hostel in Mitte. We travel high/low around here! I would definitely suggest staying in this area. My hostel was called EastSeven Berlin hostel. The neighborhood was so cute filled with little cafes and spots to eat to wander into. I noticed a range of ages at this hostel too.

I then head over to the EastSide Gallery which was a beautiful reminder of the Berlin Wall. This won't take a lot of your time. I just went here in a taxi which I found to be quite affordable.

On my way back I head over to the Berlin Cathedral and sat at the park for a bit. I liked this, and appreciated the history, however there are tons of parks and neighborhoods to see that are out of the hustle and bustle!!

I ate dinner at a spot called Kink. It is in a hidden spot in Mitte, but oh wow it was a great vibe. Definitely get a reservation in advance and sit at the bar or outside in their cute patio before you eat.

Then, I did something totally out of my solo travel comfort zone.. I went solo clubbing! This sounds silly to some, but this was a big bucket list for me! I knew Berlin was safe enough to try it out and I knew I was confident enough!

After Kink, I went to Soho House Berlin (I am a member) and got a espresso martini at the bar. Here, I met who would soon be my friends for the night and we went to German clubs together (they were German!)

Although I didn't go to these clubs, people often recommend KitKat for a crazy experience or the famous Bergain. However, I just went to local spots! Apparently Sisyphos is amazing for a day party too.

Onto Day 2!!

PS--

I was also recommended to try Lebensmittel for schnitzel, Holzmarkt 25 for daytime, and Borchardt for a nice dinner but couldn't make it this day!

Day 2

Today we woke up just a bit tired ;) and got a nice croissant at a nearby cafe in Mitte. Again, wandering this area you'll see great residential spots! But, then we got breakfast at Father Carpenter. This was excellent! I got the mushroom toast.

Then, I wandered Kreuzberg as I heard that the vintage shopping was excellent. It was super fun.

I somehow walked all the way to Tiergarten (I don't recommend this, just get a car!) This soon turned into my favorite part of Berlin. I started my experience here with the Holocaust Memorial that was incredibly moving and devastating at the same time. Then, the entire park was just absolutely amazing and such fun people watching.

Soon enough, I stumbled into this cafe called Cafe Am Neuen See that was half restaurant half grab and go German food. I sat down to eat while watching people paddle on canoes and enjoy the nearby park! It was stunning. I got one of the best burgers of my entire life here.

For sunset, I grabbed wine at a nearby park to the hostel called Weinbergspark and enjoyed a relaxing time until we had a Italian dinner at Coccodrillo which was a Modern, eclectic spot!

Another fantastic day in Berlin - Will be back!

Anything you would add or do differently?

  • Stayed longer! There is so much to see. I would recommend 3-4 days at least.
