My boyfriend and I travelled to Positano because we had seen such beautiful photos of the quaint little city in the cliffs.
Sometimes you just need to get away to the beach. A nice beach. Lots of them, in fact. Given the Dominican Republic's relative proximity to the US, combined with affordable accommodations and a wealth of the aforementioned beaches, our travel group chose the Samana' Peninsula as a base of operations for a relaxing beach vacation.
A visit to India is a feather in any traveler's cap. Our group went in search of fascinating culture, food and architecture and we did not leave disappointed.
I was traveling with a friend in Croatia and she mentioned to me that going to Cappadocia and riding in a hot air balloon was one of her dreams. I hadn't heard of it before but when I looked it up, the destination looked incredible. I met some friends in a hostel in Istanbul who were planning on going there next, so I jumped at the opportunity and off we went 2 days later!
As Europeans, we've always dreamed of visiting Hawaii Islands, once for being famous to be a paradisiac place, but also for being far away and unreachable. The three of us are young professionals and adventurers by heart. So, we decided we want to see Maui, but as low-budget and as adventurously as possible. We challenged ourselves to get there and we finally did it this summer.
In the first semester of 2021, I was feeling very frustrated with experiences I had been through and the life I was building in Thailand, where I used to live, and I was thinking it was time to leave, and probably to go back home. I was locked up in hospital because I got COVID, it was mandatory to stay there for 14 days, and believe me, that was such a hard time for me. I was in the other side of the World, missing my family and everyone I loved, and literally could count on no one in that situation, because everyone was just scared of the virus and even blaming me for being sick (yea, crazy, right?)
And someday during that 14 days, a friend of mine that also lived in Thailand called me and told me he wanted to go to Egypt, and asked me if I wanted to join him for a couple of weeks and explore the whole country. I actually had never thought about traveling to Egypt in that time of my life, but I instantaneously accepted the invitation. That would be an incredible adventure, and why not going with a friend to make things easier. I needed that, I needed something new.
I wanted to go to Italy for the music, food, art and history! I ended up not getting to dive into the music part because in 2021 Covid restrictions were still very prevalent.
A quick weekend getaway at the beginning of spring break before driving down to San Diego!
Colorado has always been a dream. I left a peice of my heart lost in their mountains.
To take it all in
My boyfriend and I were backpacking through Eastern Europe and had heard this was a great place to visit. We had also heard there was a great through-hike to do, so we head there with high hopes of great adventure. Spoiler— we found it!
We were on a backpacking trip through the Balnkan's from Croatia to Albania. Montenegro was the most logical next step after Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We started our Italy trip in Rome and knew we wanted to explore the south of Italy. Our plan was to make it all the way around the boot and then end in Sicily, a place my boyfriend has wanted to see for a while. We ended up skipping most of the boot because there was a really easy overnight ferry from Naples to Palermo. So off to Sicily we went!
Sedona is suuuuch a magical place! For me, Sedona feels like Eden: a true Heaven on Earth.
Whenever I need rest and rejuvenation in nature, I always venture to Sedona to recharge.
A backcountry-yoga retreat and family visit in my home state of Colorado!
What is Backpack Travel?
Backpacking is not just about hostels or hiking trails. It is a style of travel rooted in freedom, adaptability, and curiosity about the world around you. Sometimes that means traveling on a budget. Other times it simply means carrying what you need and leaving space for the unexpected.
Backpacker itineraries on Pinerary reflect that mindset. They are flexible, realistic, and built from firsthand experience. No pressure to do everything. No rigid schedules. Just travel that leaves room to breathe, explore, and connect.
How Real Backpackers Travel
These backpacker itineraries are not polished guidebooks. They come from travelers who showed up with a plan, or sometimes without one, and figured things out as they went.
You might find:
- A quiet nature reset that balances movement with reflection
- A budget-friendly route through small towns and local food spots
- A spontaneous mountain or city trip that turned into something unforgettable
Find one that feels like your pace and use it as a starting point. Save it, adapt it, or follow it loosely and see where the road takes you.
Tip: Use filters like Days or Budget to quickly narrow down results to find a trip that matches your travel style.
Planning a Backpacking Trip Without Overthinking It
Backpacking works best when you keep things simple. A few thoughtful choices can make the whole experience smoother without taking away the freedom.
Focus on places that are walkable or easy to get around. Leave gaps in your schedule. Prioritize experiences that matter to you and let go of the rest. Every backpacker itinerary here was created with flexibility in mind so you can travel smarter, not stricter.
