Days 1 to 3
On the first day, I flew into San Diego and my friend picked me up from the airport. We drove to Four Corners, California to hike the Three Sisters Falls trail. The trail is winding and long, just under 4 miles there and back, descending into the mountains to reach Three Sisters Falls. I'd recommend a solid pair of shoes, some snacks, bringing water, and being moderately fit for this one.
When we arrived at the falls, it was just before sunset. We enjoyed some time sitting near the waterfall and river before venturing back up the canyon.
Then, we drove to Quaking Aspen Campground near Sequoia National Park, where we spent the night in a rustic yurt, surrounded by stars and the redwoods. The yurts are about $125/night and there are hiking trails nearby.
The next day, we spent the day exploring the beauty of the Sequoia's in Sequoia National Park. Just standing next to any of these giant trees makes you feel very small and insignificant, but this is particularly true of the General Sherman tree. By volume, this is the largest single stem living tree on the ENTIRE PLANET. That's pretty significant.
We enjoyed our entire day here before driving back to San Diego. We stopped at Crystal Blue Vibrations metaphysical shop where we purchased a small drum and enjoyed the sunset at Sunset Cliffs before returning back to my friend's place to stay the night, flying home in the morning!
